The negroni sour
a variation on the traditional NEGRONI recipe that softens its bitterness, making it a more approachable cocktail for many.
With summer just around the corner and the mercury rising, we need a Negroni recipe that creates a lip-smackingly refreshing summer’s day cocktail. And what could be more fit for purpose than a classic refreshing sour? Use whatever base liquor you like with this, and whilst we understand that we are a little biased, The 924 Negroni makes a rather delicious sour that is fruity, bitter and hits the mark in really quenching that summer’s thirst.
Ingredients
60ml 924 Negroni
30ml freshly squeezed lemon juice
15ml simple syrup
1 egg white
Grapefruit bitters
Method
- Mix the ingredients in a cocktail shaker without ice
- Dry shake for 30 seconds (to ensure a rich, frothy texture)
- Add ice and shake again
- Strain into a chilled coupette or Nick and Nora
From the cognoscenti
Add the simple syrup, or don’t add the simple syrup. Negroni as the base liquor is already sweet thanks to the vermouth. Or try it both ways to see which of the two is for you.
